This is a presentation on the web concerning a claim that President Bush is a fascist and intends to take military control of the Country for a cabal of business associates before the next election. I dis-agree and offer this list of what one pseudo-scientist wrote on fascism some years ago. I’ll use this as template and offer my position as to whether it is supportable or not. Obviously, it’s a liberal point of view but don’t go saying I’m the ‘L’ word before you finish reading this.

PeaceFriends: I'm re-sending Dr. Lawrence Britt's summary of his critically important, sobering and scholarly analysis of fascism, that right-wing agenda, the US version of which I like to call "American Friendly Fascism" or "Neo-Conservativism." It can occur in governments, religious institutions, corporations, bureaucracies, families; any group that has a disdain for free and true, uncorrupted democracy.

Fascism was not invented by Mussolini; he just put a convenient name to that right-wing, coercive, selfish, heartless, punitive, sexist, racist, xenophobic agenda that is backed up by soldiers and policemen who obey unjust orders without hesitation.

Fascism has been lurking in one form or another in all militarized countries throughout the history of the world, most notably in monarchies, oligarchies, theocracies, dictatorships, and even in democracies such as ours and Britain's since greedy power-hungry business or bureaucratic leaders started exploiting other people and their resources for their personal or corporate gain.

Control of the military and police to do the enforcing by coercive measures is critically important because average thinking people will not allow their resources to be stolen from them against their will . That's why fascists try to take control of the media, legislature, judiciary and executive branches of their nations and try to do the stealing legally or by edict.

The lessons are best learned by studying what happened in pre-Nazi Germany and Hitler's Germany, especially what rapidly happened to various minorities in the first year of Hitler's regime.

Reading Willian Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich is sobering because of all the parallels between German fascism and the right-wing agendas of the Nixon/Ford/Reagan/Bush I/Clinton and Bush II regimes. Please forward this piece widely before the anti-fascist resistance movement gets crushed before it starts by the unelected Neo-Conservative usurpers in the Department of (In-)Justice, the Pentagon, the State Dept. and the White House. The 14 Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

Dr. Lawrence Britt, a political scientist, studied the fascist regimes

of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto

(Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile). He found the regimes all had 14

things in common, and he calls these the identifying characteristics of

fascism. The article is titled 'Fascism Anyone?', and appears in Free

Inquiry's Spring 2003 issue on page 20.


1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism -

Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans,

symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as

are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.


MY RESPONSE STARTS HERE:
The author begins by slandering love and respect for one’s own Nation. All New World Order researchers know that patriotism is a major weapon of the successful refutation of their objective. You cannot make a united Citizenry slaves because they are able to stand together in union. I used to live in Rochester, NY., once the home of Bausch&Lomb, Kodak, and Xerox. On any given day one can go out and view the skyline of Rochester and see not so much as one American flag flown atop any of these Corporations since the passage of NAFTA. Why? Because patriotism is the enemy of the NWO, and they know this. Peterson of Xerox was a chairman of the Tri-Lateral Commission, and member of Bilderbergs and Council-on-Foreign Relations. The Council on Foreign Relations has even held meetings in Rochester, his hometown.

Any study of British history shows that a major tactic of conquest of a foreign State was to divide and conquer. It is a maxim of any NWO planner as well. To teach that love for one’s own Nation is wrong is to set them on a path to being subjugated as they have nothing to defend. Once shamed and broken, United Patriotism can then be replaced with: a love of political party; skin color; age group; intellectual attainment; geographic location; religious belief, etc. All of these have in common, the division of Americans from each other.

Having said this, I point out that Powerful and continuing Nationalism is not what Americans have today. Consider the Corporations I mentioned above. Today, Rochester is all but a ghost town, because these fortune 500 Companies have “down-sized” the American workers laying off tens of thousands of Americans, They have moved their factories to Central and South America, where slaves will work for but a fraction of one cent of every dollar of product they generate. If we do have Nationalism and Patriotism, then where are the boycotts, picketing lines, sanctions? Oh, I forgot, that is called UN-fair trade now so this President had to lift the embargo or limits of foreign steel into America because Americans should not have an UN-fair advantage. Besides, the President said it will make us , “more competitive” to lift it.

Certainly it has to be clear to all of us that the ‘System’ is not working as it is and certainly not by supporting Republicans and Democrats, who both - with the exception of Kucinich for the Dems. - support the allowing of non-Americans into our borders as long as they can prove they have an American job they will take from us. This is exactly what this Administration is doing with Mexico.

Understand that Mexico, just for example, is not a Nation which agrees with our principles of freedom and justice. They are closer to a fascist State than most Nations, and certainly America, and you can see how much the Subjects of Mexico love their Country; they vote with their feet every day. They don’t risk life and limb for love of their own Government, but hatred and fear of it. So then where do we get off supporting it if even its’ own Slave-Citizens hate it?

Here’s a true story that illustrates what I mean about Mexicans or other foreigners, who come to our country and how they feel for our country. There was a man from America who was at in the LA. Coliseum a few years ago during a soccer game. He loves his country and was showing his support and patriotism by walking around the Coliseum with a large American flag on a pole. He waved it with pride and some cheered as it passed - but not all. In fact, he was grabbed by a bunch of people and beaten almost to death and the flag destroyed. Do you know why? Because he was cheering for America in a U.S.A. vs. Mexico soccer game and the Mexicans, who entered our country to see the game, hated him and his Country so much they’d commit felonies and physically beat an American. Just the facts Jack!

These people hate America and everything we have, and do not come here to be part of our ideals and beliefs. They come here to take our money and jobs. Oh, did someone say that they have the right to the ‘pursuit of happiness’ as well as us in this Country? Let me tell you what a large number of these Mexicans do as their ‘pursuit of happiness’. They take Americans’ jobs, and that is exactly what- EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM IS GOING TO BE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO DO BY THIS PRESIDENT. I can’t stress this enough folks, I mean how can anyone support a President who tells you he will only let a foreigner into our country IF that foreigner promises he is going to take an Americans’ job? (BY American I mean to say YOUR JOB) I don’t get how anyone who cares for this Country can say they think this is a Republican principle they’d vote for. They get, say a construction job where the Union of American workers has been busted by government assisted violations of labor laws, and all live together in cheap apartments, and spend just enough to get by on. The rest of their money is sent home. I saw an entire suburb being built week by week, brick by brick, with the American money they got which is worth 20 times as much in Mexico. These people are building posh middle-class homes NOT in America but IN MEXICO with our jobs and money. That’s called ‘flight capitol’ and is yet another reason to oppose the NWO.

So why does the Mexican government allow them to re-enter Mexico with their American money and not face arrest? I mean these are the same people who claim political asylum and that they can’t go back or their Government will punish them, right? Wrong. You see the Mexican Government hates America as well. Have you ever heard of these Mexican 'Presidentes' talk about adopting our form of Government? No, they don’t believe in America or our form of government. It may come as a surprise to those not up to speed on the topic but folks, the Mexicans still contest the borders and really do intend to take back Texas and southern California in time. This is true, and they have web sites devoted to the ‘struggle’ on pan-Mexico, Mexicali, etc. They have agendas for forcing their language in our schools, the work-place, even on our packaging, alleging we are discriminatory to have a language different from theirs. WE have to let them speak Mexican, but they have no obligation to speak English (our official language of State).

Now I know I’ve slammed the Mexicans, and some liberals are right now thinking I’m some racist Conservative. Not true, as I’m sure people who have read my posts will testify. You just read me bash Bush for his involvement in this. I continue:

This same accusation of ANTI-AMERICAN sentiments of immigrants fits the South Americans who sell cocaine on the street corners of EVERY MAJOR AMERICAN city, and refuse to so much as apply for citizenship, even after taking hundreds of thousands of American dollars from Amereicans they get addicted. Did you know that by-and-large the Jamaicans hate Afro-Americans and view them as cowardly slaves? Yet if they don’t speak, you can’t tell one from the other walking down the street. I mean cocaine is a weapon to them, and they use it on their enemy, the Americans. Certainly the arch enemy, ‘Russians’ of the nation which once almost had a nuclear exchange with us over their right to aim missiles at us from Cuba, and who enroll on the public dole by the thousands, hate us. Surely everyone knows they come from an Empire so ancient in its oppression of its people, that when it collapsed - whether by plan with American leaders planned assistance or not -we had to send instructors to literally teach them words such as ‘Democracy’ and ‘freedom’, and I mean not just grade-schoolers but in their UNIVERSITIES OF COLLEGE-AGED STUDENTS! These people - once members of an army that hated anything American - now collect welfare from our work. These people hate not just us, but are so twisted by their culture of oppression as ingrained after over 650 years of enslavement, they hate and take advantage of even their own, paying their all-russian co. payroll at less than minimum wage. Don’t tell me I made this up, for I have a Uzbekhistani friend who’s been from coast to coast these last ten years, and told me he’d never work for a Soviet because of this criminal fact.

Not even the Moslem, er, Middle-Eastern, corner store owners who charge the highest retail prices for our own bread and butter, like us, and we sure aren’t winning any hearts and minds there are we? Think they walked in our country rich already and bought that store meeting al the requirements of the City code to own and operate a business and so be licensed? No, they were brought here after Gulf War I as friends of our cause, given small-business guaranteed loans, even non-repayable grants(kind of like Bush just got for the Iraqi business owners, by threatening to veto it if the 87 Billion was to be re-paid to the Americans he took it from) and setup by Republicrats, who let them slide by on the licensing requirements. These are businesses any of us could run, but are denied in application after application because we are American and so are not entitled to the same treatment.

Think on this a minute and tell me if it sounds crazy to conclude that drugs follow our foreign wars since Korea: America goes into SE Asia in the 1950’s and 60’s; there is explosive growth in addiction to heroin from SE Asia in this period. Okay, we leave SE Asia, and heroin goes down. We go into S. America (panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador) in the 1980’s. There is an explosion of cocaine addiction in this period. Year 2002, we go back into the area of the heroin trade routes (these are well known and ancient trade routes which are older than Mohammed, who was himself a merchant and created a scam to get his gang to take over the routes and enrich themselves. Oh, I’m sorry, some of you didn’t read about this version of the founding of the Moslem religion did you? What? Did you think Mohammed was some Holy man who walked around praying and winning hearts and minds of disparate clans and tribes all over the Middle-East and Asia by his loving peaceful philosophy? Folks, the Jihad has killed far more of their own than any number of Jews or Americans we can put up. The 'non-believer' term was originally used to justify the killing of anyone of a Nation in the middle-East who was not a part of his gang of thugs, and had nothing to do with killing Jews or Americans. Heck, it was the Moslem who gave the Jews sanctuary when they were almost exterminated from the earth. It’s just convenient to use it today and our leaders present it in this way) , and there is another explosion of heroin on the streets of America. Hmmmm. I wonder if there is a connection between our foreign excursion of war and the incursion of their ‘friendly partisans’ into this country?

I am not a Republicrat at all, and believe followers of both parties are part of the problem in this Country because they are like the guy in the story who keeps doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result. We will never get out of our mess, my fellow Americans with these short memories which don’t exceed four years. It just does not work to think, “THIS TIME it’ll work because ‘THIS GUY IS DIFFERENT”. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, folks it’s a duck and the very fact they tell you they are Republicrats is all the proof you need that they support the status quo.

Gephardt is as opposed to America in his public remarks as Bush, he was a strong advocate for NAFTA. While we are on this topic, for that matter, Lieberman, (knowing the bombings of the WTC were related to our funding of Israel with welfare and WMD, wants to give even more money to Israel and send more of our youth to die in the middle-East if elected); Sharpton (supports minority rights to take money from white Americans for the crimes of their great-grandfathers), Mosley-Braun (However competent, believes we should elect her because she is a female, thereby alientating her divided and conquered constituency), all openly admit their Candidacy is based on divided American positions. DUM-DE-DUM DUH, DUH, AHHH, BUT this time… Same action, same result. Being Patriotic and supporting your Nation has nothing to do with being a Republicrat anymore. Therefore, as to point one above, then America is not fascist YET. .

For now I’m going to put this part up for your comment, as I t end to post and expand on the post by your interesting questions and points of view. Give me some feed-back on this and I’ll go to point two in another blog. The list is here to read and feel free to post support or refutation of any point and so add to this article. Make it a living blog, and tell us why this is not fascism, OR tell us why it is. I want to know and respect all opinions that are beyond the one or two sentence insult type-remark some post.


2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights -

Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in

fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in

certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way

or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long

incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause -

The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need

to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or

religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists,

etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military -

Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given

a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic

agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism -

The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively

male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are

made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homo-sexuality are suppressed

and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family

institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media -

Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in

other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government

regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives.

Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security -

Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined -

Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in

the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric

and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major

tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's

policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected -

The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are

the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually

beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed -

Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a

fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are

severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts -

Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher

education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other

academics to be censored or even arrested. Free _expression_ in the arts

and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment -

Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to

enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses

and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is

often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist

nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption -

Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and

associates who appoint each other to government positions and use

governmental power and authority to protect their friends from

accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national

resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen

by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections -

Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times

elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even

assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control

voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of

the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to

manipulate or control elections.
