Joe's Job Search

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 A.M. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying CANADIAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in..... CANADA.....

Well Joe Smith must be making a heck of alot more money than I am then because everything I own has been (MADE IN CHINA) No all jokes aside, I use to be very big on buying America too until one day I looked under the hood of my Chevy and saw just how many parts were made in Japan. Maybe I should have just bought the tires since I knew that they were made right here in good ole Dayton, Ohio. GCJ

thanks for the post. I recently watched the democrats debate and heard Kucinich actually state he would attempt to repeal 'NAFTA' if elected. To me, this is a more significant economic policy than all the other nonsense combined. I was an outspoken opponent of NAFTA when it was passed, and history has vindicated my position. NAFTA and the Uruguay round of the GATT are anti-American in intent and nature, and they have done exactly as opponents predicted: reduced American wages; lost American jobs; erased American pride and borders.

For those who support the need to benefit these third world dictatorships who now have a RIGHT to our markets with their slave-produced products, consider this: In South America, workers are also being laid off and fired from work. They, who make as little as $2.00 a day, are being fired for replacement by those who want their job for $1.50 a day. It is a race to the bottom and we will all eventually be equal slaves because of NAFTA and GATT.

Ask yourself, what was the price of beer three years ago, a pair of pants, a electric tool, or any other 'average Americans' ordinary household purchase? It was the same as today. But how can this be if the economy is flourishing? Because it is not US who are making money anymore. The number of skilled Americans now doing 'temp' work is in the millions, and such a loss of skilled production is anti-thetical to a productive nation. Fact is, it will continue to get worse. Many of our Christmas's this year are paid for on re-financing debt on debt, not with our savings and profits for a years work. the numbers speak for themselves and there will be NO increase in retail sales numbers this year over last year or the year before that. The people at the top KNOW this fact,as they send out fools to tell us it us the snow that is stopping us from being anble to buy for our own children as we used to.

Whether Kucinich is a solution or not I don't know, but I note his statement, and urge you to vote for what is best for you country, not the candidate Dan Rather tells you to.

I like Kucinich's position on a lot of issues, but unfortunately he is not very "presidential" so he wouldn't win. To me, it's more important to get Bush out, than it is to vote for who I think is the best candidate.

Thank you for the comment. When a child I was taught that it isn't winning that is important but doing your best; you disagree I take it. I'll put up a blog as to the Diebold voting machine scam which will steal the next election and some other 'vote scam' material soon. Hope you check back on this blog occassionally and maybe see if opposing people who win at all cost, is more important. The Republicats will take it any way they can get it, and convincing you to support wrong because only the most conniving will win is just not the way I grew up. Thanks for the read.
